Product Description

Saxon’s fifth album, Power And The Glory was originally released on 21st March 1983 and was produced by Jeff Glixman at Axis Sound Studios in Atlanta. The album spawned two singles, ‘Nightmare’ and the title track, ‘Power And The Glory’ and also marked the replacement of drummer Pete Gill with Nigel Glockler, who remains a member of Saxon to this day. This version includes early working demos of songs from the album, recorded in 1982. Including tracks that didn’t make the final track listing. This is also true of the two tracks recorded during the album sessions with Jeff Glixman and have been rarely heard until now.

this album was a fantastic release way back in february 1983, this was the first studio record by saxon since the termination of original drummer pete gil so with that said this was nigel glocklers first studio album w/ saxon, i got this the freakin day it came out, this was saxons first record recorded in the us as well. though over the past 35 years i have had many not agree w/ me this was as good as the first 4 saxon studio albums, the production was a bit different no doubt but this album still blew your speakers out on first listen like it still does today over 35 years on. there where two versions back in 83, the us version and then there was the uk/worldwide version. what made the us version unique was for some reason on that lp only saxon did a remake of suzi hold on from wheels of steel and that 1982 version had a lot more power to it then the first version on WOS in 1980, HOWEVER the uk and worldwide version had the amazing song MIDAS TOUCH wich was not released in the us for some stupid reason. SO I GOT THE US AND JAPAN pressings back in 83 for that reason. anyway this album is 100% pure saxon metal period, i love it to this day, this 2018 remaster has a host of great bonus tracks i did not get to finally hear until they started popping up around 2000 on saxon compilations like DIAMONDS AND NUGGETS, anyway this is an updated version of the 2009 remaster with the full complete uk power and the glory sessions where we have ( up until 00 & 09) unreleased throw away tracks that are great like STAND UP AND ROCK, TURN OUT THE LIGHTS & MAKE EM ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a beautiful remaster and comes in a book style sleeve and has a nice photo booklet that shows great photos from this tour and era......... the remastering on this disc sounds fantastic as well.................................................if you did not get the 09 remasters THESE ARE MUCH NICER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
