Product Description

The Irrelevance of Power is an exploration of how we might free ourselves from the coercive power of governments and find our way along diverse wandering paths to the Promised Land of peace and freedom together in universal community. Real politics, the building of a human home, can only happen outside — and in continual, unruly revolt against — everything that passes for “politics as usual” in all governed places.

Remember the last time you read a philosophy tome that you just couldn't put down? Me either, until I read Frank Seeburger's, "The Irrelevance of Power." This book is a rigorous investigation of the nature of power that reads as smoothly as a novel. I loved the beginning exposition of the meaning of the word "political" which Seeburger, through his Heideggerian/etymological investigation understands as creating a place/city where human beings can truly or authentically be and become. His investigation of the word "religion" as connecting with the Divine frees religious belief from the bonds of institutions and all their abuses. Finally, this self-styled Christian Anarchist Communist understands, towards the end of the book, the term "anarchy" as the lack of a ruler as opposed to a leader. His use of Alcoholics Anonymous as a model of anarchy is brilliant.
