Five of Marvel's latest and greatest super sensations take to the oversized page in larger than life adventures! Carol Danvers embraces a stellar legacy as Captain Marvel, Earth's Mightiest Hero! She's an inspiration to young Kamala Khan, on her own path to becoming Ms. Marvel--big boots to fill, but Kamala is an Inhuman shape-shifter! You won't believe Gwenpool; she was a comic book reader just like you...until she woke up in the Marvel Universe! In another world, a very different Gwen, last name Stacy, was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker--and became Spider-Woman! Plus, an all-new Wasp takes flight--but will she be friend or foe to the Avengers?
I love the Marvel Treasury Editions and this is nicely presented. I also have #1 SPIDEY edition and the binding for this issue seems superior. I did not have to flatten out each page to make it readable like the SPDEY Treasury. I will not go into great detail on that( one 2 star reviewer of that Edition explains it well enough). My main gripe with this sampler is that there are too many characters that get too little time to sell their product. I do not read any of these on a monthly basis and the short stories presented here did not persuade me to change my mind. There was at least a complete story arc for the two Spider-Men in the preceding edition and I came away liking them both( I was surprised at how much I enjoyed MIles Morales as Spider-Man!) The Ms. Marvel story is my favorite and the one I would be most likely to follow up on and Captain Marvel comes across as an unlikeable character with a chip on her shoulder(that's not new). Gwen-Pool and Spider-Gwen seem like they're out of regular continuity. Keeping up with regular continuity can be expensive so they are a hard sell. I did like the art and I enjoy comics with a female lead character.(Moon-Girl & Devil Dinosaur and have been meaning to pick up a Squirrel Girl Trade). I came away liking Ms. Marvel and wish her story was not left on a cliff-hanger. Today(19-MAR-2017) this lists for $11.99 and I paid $15.99 at a comic shop.I think it's worth that much and hope Marvel keeps printing Treasury's. I still have my old Conan Treasury's!
